A man in Fresno, Calif., tried, and failed to flee from a police officer who happens to be a sub-3-hour marathoner.
Surveillance cameras caught Michael David Buchanan, 33, in multiple places around Northeast Fresno where they believe he’s been involved in dozens of break-ins, ABC30 reports.
At Wassabi Sushi on Herndon he threw a rock, crawled through a small space and went straight for the cash register. For Buchanan, the wrong detective was at work.
When he’s off duty, Detective Rudy Montoya happens to run marathons and ultra-marathons.
Police Chief Jerry Dyer said to ABC30: “It’s ironic that this guy chose to have Rudy Montoya chase him- he wasn’t going to get away.”
