Wait – what? Man arrested after trying to avoid police on Chicago Marathon course

Screen Shot 2014-10-14 at 11.42.37 PMWell, this is one way to hide from police. Bryan Duffy, 29, is being held in the Cook County Jail after trying to evade police by hopping in on the Chicago Marathon course on Sunday, WGNtv reports.

Police said they became suspicious after finding Duffy digging in flower pots along the course. When they approached him he hopped in on the race and ran along the marathoners.

Officers tackled him where at the area of the marathon course that crosses miles 4 and 11. They say Duffy was carrying ten capsules of Ecstasy and $531, WGNtv reports.

He faces charges for possession of a controlled substance, resisting arrest and reckless conduct for putting marathon runners in danger, according to DNAinfo Chicago.

Duffy’s bail is set at $10,000. No runners were hurt in the incident.
